Accessory Rings
by: Anonymous

Hi Margie

great to hear from you! OK - most accessory rings, concealing an oval locket bezel is relegated to the Poison ring impaired basket:-)
You mentioned a triangle/pyramid on the cover which makes me think it could have belonged to a member of the order of the Freemasons, possibly 1930s, as you may already be aware, that from Medieval times, the Order adopted these symbols of the craft of building.

The sun, and other symbols (whose significance was only understood by those in the order). The sun symbolizes the source of light, the square the symbol of the master of the lodge and the triangle which represents the deity. Such symbols also appear on cuff links, watch cases and other accessories.

From the turn of the century enterprising jewelers met the age-old human desire to encircle the finger with a ring that was contrary to convention and Accessory Rings and Novelty Rings was a result.

Warm Regards

Yvonne
