Sourcing Agate For Cameo Carving

by Patti

Hi! I am a portrait artist and sculptor. I've done
relief sculpting in clay, but not in rock or shell. I'd like to though. I
especially like the look of a blue and white agate cameo. I would love to try
carving in this stone to see if I could do some cameo work.

Do you know where I could find the correct type of agate cabs to work on? All that I've been able to find are agate stone sliced to show all the layers when I need cab cut that
go along the layers to have a white layer on top and a blue layer on the
bottom. I know this is a strange question, but I've been trying to find this
answer for so long and thought I'd give you a shot.

Thank you for your time,
Patti
