Superb Georgian Love Token Miniature on Ivory

This miniature on ivory is one of my favorite pieces due to the subject matter and superb artwork. The use of the dark background is typically French, and really makes the image pop! Note the little boy hiding in the bush, peeking at the maiden. One can only assume that this is a love token meant to say "I am admiring you".

Her Neo-classical garb helps date this piece to the early 19th century. The surrounding stones are rose cut and I was told that they may be white sapphires or Zircon (jargoons) and how beautifully they are all hand set! This is what i love about antique jewelry.
