1890 antique sapphire-diamond ring

I have an antique ring from ca;1890's. It has a sapphire center surrounded by diamonds. I put the ring in a jewelry cleaner - forgot it overnight - removed and the area surrounding the diamonds now looks like dark metal? Do I just need to have it rhodium treated to bring back the shine? It looked like a white gold prior. The gold band area is fine - same with the diamonds and sapphire.
