Age of ring with red stones

I've had this silver and what I think is a garnet stone since 1981, it was given to me by a friend and when he gave it to me, it looked the same as it does now. He said it was his grandmother's ring, but it looked so old when he gave it to me back in 1981. I was wondering if anyone can tell me how old it is or what era its from, because I can't find anything close to it on the web. Thank you ~ ronni morales.
