Any Insight?

I have had this for years as it has always intrigued me. Can you give me any insight what so ever from the attached pics? The only visible mark is pictured for you. Unfortunately the stone was hammered when I got it. Not sure what the stone is either. Even the smallest detail would be greatly appreciated. Respectfully, Jack
