Let’s walk through them together. This is what these marks tell us;
Anchor facing left = Birmingham Assay Office Chester’s anchor faces right, so Birmingham it is. The Crown + 18 = Birmingham, 18ct gold The crown was used with Birmingham marks from 1824 right up to 1975. The Letter R = 1994
In Birmingham’s modern date letter font, R points to 1994. If it were 1968 it would be a T in a shield, so you can rule that one out.
W.E.G = William E. Green & Son Birmingham jewelers and goldsmiths, registered for many decades. A solid, well-known maker.
Brett those extra numbers: 549 and Q/P are NOT official hallmarks. They’re what we call "job numbers."
Pawn shops, jewelers, or repairers often stamped their own codes inside to keep track of stock. So your ring has probably had a life in a shop window at some point — nothing to worry about, just part of its story.

Birmingham, 1994, 18ct gold, made by William E. Green & Son. A lovely modern classic with a bit of history already tucked inside it.
