Lion Passant on Gold
by: Anonymous

Hi Norman
thanks for writing in. The Lion Passant in which the lion is walking with the right fore paw raised and all others on the ground appears on UK .925 Sterling till present.

Norman, you say the piece is high carat gold.... I can offer two possibilities. If for those reading this now and think they have another possibility, please join in.

The dates don't exactly match however Lion Passant is the sponsor mark for:

1. P.W. ELLIS & Co. Importers & Distributors of Fine Luxury items (Toronto, Canada) - ca 1891 - 1928

2. Imitation of ENGLISH mark - ca 1880s - 1920s
(Lion passant facing the opposite way to the lion passant on .925 UK sterling)

Sounds exquisite.

Good Luck.
