I would also like to add to Yvonne's comments, that with the price of gold at an all time high, it is well worthwhile to have the metal tested. Also people buying and selling physical gold should be aware of how they work out the price for scrap gold.

Hi Dawn, it's hard to tell just by looking at it, the photo isn't clear, and no mention of a mark, so I would advise to have it tested by your local jeweller; there is a chance it might not be solid gold, even if it has the yellow look of gold, it could be gold plate, gold filled, or vermeil which is sterling silver coated in gold. The heft or weight can be a clue, but it should be tested, especially if you don't handle much jewelry.
