European Origin, Antique Wedding Rings & Appraisals
by: YVONNE

Good Evening Don!

thank you for writing in to us concerning your antique wedding ring that's been in your family for over 100 years!

If the metal tests 8 carat gold, then it's comprised of 333% gold and is of European origin. It's not all that common.

Is it a plain gold band? Or does it have fancy edges like millegrain decoration which is a style of decoration with a raised edge on the ring that's done with a special knurling tool over a metal edge so that it looks like the edge of a coin.

Is it marked inside the band or not or was it tested 8 carat gold?

Weight?

Condition?

The more details you can provide concerning Provenance- so much the better.

Don, all these factors are considered in an Appraisal - Not being a gemstone ring, but an antique wedding ring, if you have photos of the ring, (preferably three) you can get an affordable appraisal online.

Kind Regards
Yvonne
