and how do you tell if its solid gold, gold plated or gold filled as they are also marked with 375 correct?

Im pretty sure its Morris & Watson from New Zealand. 375 means 9 carat gold.

Good morning Kathy, the letters, " MV " is most likely the maker's or manufacturers mark.

"375" is the gold purity mark. It tells you the metal is 9ct or 375 (parts per 1000) or is 37.5% gold (mainly British Commonwealth countries. It is the most hard wearing. NZ not sure could be New Zealand.
