Without seeing them...Hillcraft slide on earrings?
by: Khat

it's hard to say. But since you are from Indiana, I'm going to guess they may be earrings from Hillcraft. Are they framed in square gold wire which wraps around to make a sort of clip on the back? If so, they are slide on earrings by Hillcraft, and quite collectible.

Perhaps Dress Clips?
by: Yvonne

Erin,
Without an image, could they be vintage dress clips? Dress Clips were all the rage in the early 1900s, Most of the costume jewelry manufacturers in the 1930s - 1950s imade them for price-suited Depression budgets. Being so versatile meant they added interest to any outfit. They could be worn together or as single brooches.

Neither Earrings or Cuflinks
by: nanlie

Without seeing a picture I can only guess but being 69 years of age and living with my aunts and my mother... I remember items like house dresses, smocks and blouses that used decorative buttons with a kind of stay at the back. The first two were usually decorative or a variety of different ones were used. The button holes were on both sides of the clothing items... I wish I could have seen them but when I read your comments, I remembered these buttons and thought maybe it would help figure out what your collectibles are...
