Gold filled
by: Anonymous

The GF means it's gold-filled, which is a special type of heavy gold-plate. Essentially it's plated with 12K gold. Maybe from another country? There are web sites that list which Karat of gold is manufactured in which country, just google that topic. Hopefully the seller is not trying to sell it as solid gold. Make sure they give you the gram weight. There are calculators online for that too, but you have to subtract the weight you think is silver or stone or whatever.

The marks were used from 1942 - 45
by: Anonymous

Good morning - these marks -<1/20 12k G. F.> were used in 1942-45 during the war, when base metals were not available and sterling silver was substituted. WWII was from 1939 - 45.
Warm Wishes,
Yvonne
