Indian Chief Hallmark
by: Anonymous

The rings that you are asking about has the Indian Chief hallmark and was made by the Henry Wexel Co. I believe that the Henry Wexel Co. was in business from 1897 until 1907. As I undertsand, the 1/30 - 14 KT that is in the ring that I have means that it is 30% gold and the R.G.P. means it is Rolled Gold Plated. I am not sure what the metal underneath the gold would be.

I too found in WA state
by: chandra

I found mine in a box of family stuff it has the union head then says 1/100 10k rgb it looks like gold maybe rgb stands for rose gold band as the color has a pinkish overtone instead of stark gold. Never had it tested, found it a week ago. No jewels just the band. I think 1/100 means 100 were made and it's the 1st of 100 but not sure. Let me know what you all find.

I have the same stamp
by: Leila G

I have a vintage engagement ring that is sterling silver with the exact same stamp! It has a large center stone that a jeweler confirmed was not a diamond but thought it might be a topaz or a sapphire. No one has been able to tell me anything about the headdress stamp though. I've scoured the internet and been to 3 different Jewelers and nothing. Please! let me know if you find out anything. This ring was found in my grandfathers toolbox that's been in a barn for at least 20 years, so who knows how long he actually had it.

exact ring as pictured by Jean in New York...

I recently picked this from my 95+ y.o. Grandmother's estate. It was in a pile of old costume jewelry. My Family all hails from Southeastern Wisconsin, for over 100 years, & Germany before that. I too am curious about it but haven't had a chance yet to have a jeweler look at it. Good luck!

Another cheif head ring - 14krgr
by: Anonymous

I have a really similar ring, except i have 6 small stones on the top of it, they resemble diamonds, but I have yet to get it looked at. A friend of mine was digging up north in the oil fields and came upon it and gave it to me. On the inside it says 1/30 along with 14 krgr and then follows the chief head. I'm highly curious on where it came from or what time it's from.

Massachusetts Jewelry Manufacturer
by: Anonymous

The name of the company that used this type of Indian head mark was H. Wexel & Co., a small jewelry company around the turn of the century in Attleboro, Massachusetts.

They advertised products like buttons, studs and jewelry.

The mark does not designate the type of metal used.

They were only in business from ca 1896-1904.

Without knowing the metal, I cannot give you a value. Find a jeweler that will test it for you.

Native American Head Profile
by: Anonymous

Native American marks are not this easiest hallmarks to determine.
There are also silversmiths that used an Indian head mark.

By the way, your jeweler should have tested your ring for free.

INDIAN HEAD MARKING
by: Anonymous

I have an engagement ring with a indian head full dress inside, 10k gold. looks like a diamond but haven't had it checked, spots for 2 stones either side no stones.

It came from my G-Grandmothers things.

She came from Midland Ontario Canada

Be great if someone knew the origin of these rings.

Indian head marking
by: Anonymous

I also found a ring in my Great Grandmothers old jewellery box it is 10k rose gold with a diamond solitaire and has a Indian head marking.

Very curious about it and haven't been able to get any information on it.

Most jewellers have no idea about it's origin.

Have exact same ring. Maybe from the West or from the midwest. Have family from both areas. Trying to figure the origins out. Where were your grandparents located?

I have the same ring!
by: Kathy

Hi there, I have the exact same ring and no history on it-it was found years ago in WA state on my grandparents property- did u ever find out more on it?

Where was your grandmother from-maybe it would give us the location and we can find out more. Don't know when u posted your question, but reply back on here if you can offer any more info. Thanks
