Thanks for your comment Nikki - Freemasonic? Possibly - they kind of have that flavor. I was surprised when, on close examination, the design was hand tooled. I think you can just see in the photo that the embossed poloygonal surround is 'chiseled in' and the surrounding dots are clearly punched in.
