Can you tell if it's been adapted for use as a pendant - it could originally been a broach and converted? Check out the back and see if there are any signs of a brooch finding. Cheers Robyn

it doesn't look that old to me. Short hair styles on ladies will not be a subject of an antique cameo. If it's a pendant it could be synthetic material as a carving (unless made of hard-stone) would be to fragile to wear as a pendant.
