Compartment Ring - Antique Ring or Not?

I have a gold ring with a woman's profile (Pearl white) on the front. The top of the ring opens and there is a little compartment. I have heard of these rings before (the tops opening). I want to say women would put rose petals or something that smelled nice and would put it up the their noses when they came across a harsh sent. I'm not sure if it's an antique or worth any value? I can't find anything about this ring. Please help.
