Ostby Barton was one of the best known jewelry makers of the first half of the 20th century. At the turn of the century they were the biggest producer of gold rings in the world.
In 1912 Mr Ostby was on a European buying trip with his daughter when he booked their return trip on the ill fated maiden voyage of the Titanic. Mr Ostby was a passenger on the Titanic and was lost in the tragic sinking but his daughter survived and went on, together with her brother, to advance the business until the mid 1950's. Ostby Barton was known for wonderful design and attention to detail and today the OB pieces are highly sought after.
Do you have a suggestion on how I go about getting this appraised and sold?

Ostby & Barton & Co by: Anonymous
I would be leaning towards OSTBY & BARTON Co. The company worked predominately in 10K and they manufactured GOLD RINGS, in Providence, RI, USA between 1879 - 1950.
If the stone is a natural citrine, (quartz family) and the original stone in this antique gold ring, the color of the stone has most likely not been heat treated to enhance the color.
This antique ring could very well be over 125 years old. Congratulations!

Pretty ANTIQUE Ring by: Sally
Hi there - I had trouble trying understanding this piece, because of light reflecting from what appears to be a yellow faceted stone? OB will be the signature of the maker. The band looks like it's a bit thin at the back. Do you know what the stone is? Is it a Citrine? Best Sally
