Striped Rhinestone Ring

Hi,

Can anyone tell me anything about this striped rhinestone ring I inherited? None of the antique dealers, estate sale people, or jewelers I've shown it to have ever seen a striped one. I can't find one on the internet. I would like to know how it was made, when it was made, or anything else about it. Most of the foil has been removed, the stripe is not caused by the backing. Thanks!
