ROSE thank you for your wonderful Titanic contribution. I am sure many of us, well me at least :-) agree with your views entirely, we have created on the one hand, a meaningless society, in which people know the price of everything and the value of nothing.
That's why I decided to create the page - Lest We Forget. The poem, "Recessional" was composed by Poet Laureate, Rudyard Kipling, on the occasion of Queen Victoria's Diamond Jubilee in 1897.
The forthcoming international celebration on the 5th February 2012 marks the 60th anniversary, the Diamond Jubilee of Queen Elizabeth II.
Carol Ann Duffy was appointed Britain's Poet Laureate in May 2009. It will be interesting to see how or if Poet Laureate Duffy will commemorate this special occasion. HM the Queen will also turn 86 years old during the celebrations for her own Diamond Jubilee.
