Hi! I'm attaching an image of a ring that looks early 19th century -- rose cuts set in silver, gold band -- but its mark is 585. How early can it be. When did they start using this mark? Would you assume that it's European?

Thanks for your response, this is a follow up to my first post and i have added a photo.
This is the best photo I could get of the heart hallmark, they are as described below:
the letter V in a circle
the number 585 (which I believe to represent 14K gold)
A heart symbol with an arrow going through it and in the centre of the heart I think is an 'N' or a 'Z' on its side
thanks in advance, Ruth

I have a bracelet and bar pin that is stamped 585 and has been in the family for a long time. My grandparents were immigrants from Eastern Europe. The gold in the pieces has a reddish look instead of a pure goldish color. I have been wondering about the history and value of these pieces.
Thank you so much.

I have an antique diamond ring that looks as though it might be white gold or platinum. However, the markings on the inside of the band says "14k LIT" I have tried to find out what this is, but the local jewelry appraisal here, specializing in antique jewelry, said he was not familiar with the marking, but that the diamonds were very good ones. He was unable to do an appraisal at that time, but I never took it back. Are you familiar with the marking?

I can't get a photo because the mark is inside the ring. I found the designer on google once and now I can't find it. Can you help? Thanks.

I have a 7 piece set of vanity items- 1 large crystal &
gold lidded jar, 2 small crystal & gold lidded jars, a brush, mirror, file, &
shoehorn. I purchased them from our small town's museum about 10-15 years ago.
They each have a hallmark stamped into the gold parts, next to the hallmark it has 14kt. I'm assuming the 4 digit number after that are the item's order/ replacement part number. (since only the two small jars have the same number) then a tiny x. The museum could not give me any information other than it was owned by Mrs. H. H. Hamilton, St. Paul (which is clearly engraved on the underside & side of several pieces).
I've been able to find several listings for silver vanity sets but none for gold vanity sets. I'd like to know what year they were made & by what company, it would be great to know how much to start the sale price at too. Thanks.

Hi guys,
I have wedding ring set that belonged to some family parents. The rings are 14K gold and are believed to be from German Art Deco period. the marks on both rings are as follows:
the letter V in a circle
the number 585 (which I believe to represent 14K gold)
A heart symbol with an arrow going through it and in the centre of the heart I think is an 'N' or a 'Z' on its side
I would like to know anything you can tell me about these rings please, sorry but the hallmark is too small for my camera macro.
Good luck hallmark guru!

I have a 14k gold, enamel, and pearl grapes brooch. It is hallmarked with just the letter "K" I thought it might be Krementz but everything I have read Krements used an unusual hallmark, not the letter "K" and also their name. It looks similar to a lot of their pieces but I was wondering if anyone knew this hallmark.
Thanks!! Oh and there is also a "K" above the 14 so I don't think it is the "K" for the 14k

I understand that 585 means 14K but could you tell me what the O.H. means? I have a man's wedding band that a relative that died over 45 years ago, told my family, he found on a battlefield during WW2,
It's been passed around the family along with a Prussian medics metal for years, and since it looks as if the ring has been "cut" my family has always wondered if they weren't just "found" but "taken off" from someone.
No ones ever known quite what to do with them, but I would at least like to know what the marks are. It's O.H. 585 with the initials G J G. Thank You Carole

White gold 1950's era (assumed) wedding set, engagement and band. Inside the band is marked 14K FA, and then what I think is NCY, spelling FANCY. The NCY part is worn off, so really hard to tell, though my jeweler agreed in this opinion. I left it in her care for repairs, so have no pics.

Hi all,
After my mother died, over 30 years ago, she left me a golden 14k bracelet. I don't know where it was bought, because she lived in Australia and later in The Netherlands. I purchased a baguette diamond ring on eBay which was described as 14K gold. I do not find a hall mark inside the band. It is a very pretty ring, full of sparkle, but I am bothered by the missing hall mark. I have been in contact with the seller and she says she purchased it from Montgomery Ward's years ago as an upgrade (turn in an old ring, they allow the purchase price on a better ring).
She has yet to explain to me why there is no hall mark. Should I return the ring?

Hi Guru!
I have my husband's Grandmother's ring and I am really not concerned if it is real gold or not. (hasn't turned my finger green or blistered it yet) Good sign.
Anyway, the Hallmark is FR14K.
I have found a few things on it, such as it could be made by the Fritz Rossier Company, but I cannot find a thing on that company. I love the ring, but would love more info.
What do you think?

Hello,
I'm hoping someone may recognise something about this hallmark. I really can't make out much other than the 14KT. Looks like maybe the letter C than a symbol then the letter G and another letter or symbol. This hunting of hallmarks has become quite fun for me but this one keeps me stumped. Appreciate any insight, thanks!!

I have a vintage 14K gold men's coil snake ring with ruby eyes. It has imprinted "GERMANY" as well as an oval with "H&A" inside and 3 curved lines on each exterior side of the oval placed at 2:00 and 8:00 points (as if the oval was a clock). I have not been able to find any ring like this anywhere. It was gifted to my husband in the mid-1960s. It wraps around the finger 3 times, with the head first, then mid-section second, and the tail third. It is flexible and the eyes are set with roughly uneven faceted rubies, as if hand cut. I would love to know anything about this ring and possible value. I am including two pictures, one the overall view of the ring, and the other is the back side of the head with all of the markings as described above.

I have a 14 kt white gold Alexandrite ring.
There is a small diamond gem on the inside of the band. This is an actual diamond gem, I don't mean the shape of a diamond.
The letters " EI or E1 " are before the diamond. It also says 14kt.
I am wondering what the letters stand for, and if the diamond indicates anything. What are the chances the gem is a natural alexandrite?

I inherited a 1939 engagement ring, and have been trying to do a little research on it. The only mark I can find is a small "S&D" stamp. I believe it was purchased in the Philadelphia area, but I don't know. It's 14K gold, and may have some white gold or platinum plating. It also has one large center stone, and two smaller stones on either side.

Pic was taken with basic digital cam, no frills, close-up very difficult - even in macro!
Anyway; here we go: The chain length is 22 inches. The chain weight is 16.69 Grams. Each link is about 6 mm in length. Each link is about 4 mm in width. The Thickness of each link is about 1 mm. Now the hard part, Markings - aka/ Hallmark! I will describe as best I can, using around the head 3 lens magnifier with a light! Attached to the clasp there is a link with markings. The Top marking (singular) appears to read as numerical 585. The bottom has several markings (Plural), reading from left to right I thing they are as follows: First is a STAR, looks to be 5 point. Next (just to the right of the star) is what "I think" is the number 74. Lastly; on the extreme right are the letters AR. For what it's wo
rth the clasp is also marked 585. Anything else is probably scratch and / or dirt. Do you know what I have? Thank You in advance for taking the time to read this monolog and give it some thought. Sincerely, BAB...

Hallo! I have an inherited antique ladies' wristwatch in platinum set with brilliants. The word 'platinum' appears engraved on the inside of the (tiny) case but there are no hallmarks, merely the number 5206 on the case back. No maker's name on the movement, just 'M.P.G' on the barrel.
The strap, however, appears to be white gold, judging by the '14 585' hallmark. What intrigues me are the letters 'N K' within the outline of an open book (rectangle with the corners higher than the middle). Any idea to whom this refers (presumably the maker)? Thanks in advance!

I have a ring and would like to know if anyone has information on the maker's mark. I attached some pictures. The stones, we believe, are two diamonds with a blue topaz in the center. It is 14K gold. There is another marking/etching inside the ring, it may be a serial or lot number? I believe it reads "R3294". It's very hard to see.
Any information would be greatly appreciated!
